JBlunt Designs and Damasteel: A Decade of Innovation in Damascus Steel Jewelry
Since 2012, JBlunt Designs has enjoyed a unique and inspiring partnership with Damasteel AB, the acclaimed Swedish maker of stainless Damascus steel. This collaboration blends centuries-old Damascus steel craftsmanship with modern metallurgy, resulting in jewelry pieces that stand out for both their artistry and durability.
At the heart of this relationship is our shared vision to redefine custom ring design. While many jewelers stick to traditional precious metals, we saw an opportunity to push boundaries by incorporating the mesmerizing patterns of Damascus steel into fine jewelry. Damasteel’s patented powder metallurgy process, which produces incredibly consistent and hypoallergenic patterns, made them the perfect partner.
Traditional Damascus steel can be unpredictable—often showing inconsistencies like inclusions or delaminations. Damasteel’s innovative technique creates a uniform pattern throughout the steel, allowing for intricate and reliable designs. This consistency has been crucial in crafting high-end, custom pieces that meet the exacting standards of luxury jewelry.
Our collaboration has grown beyond just using their steel—we have actively contributed to the development of new patterns tailored specifically for jewelry applications. This close partnership has resulted in exclusive designs that are available only through Damasteel and have helped evolve their product offerings.
A significant highlight of our work with Damasteel came in February 2025, when we were honored to debut two brand-new Damascus patterns: Lucia and Saga. These patterns represent a major leap in Damasteel’s design innovation. Lucia introduced a wide, open pattern unlike anything previously offered, bringing a fresh aesthetic to stainless Damascus. Saga expanded on a tighter traditional design with new variations that were once only possible through custom forging.
Damasteel entrusted us with the exclusive opportunity to create six unique rings showcasing these patterns. These pieces will be presented at upcoming knife shows and metalworking events worldwide, demonstrating the patterns’ beauty and versatility. Our designs explored various finishes and etching techniques, including a traditional-style Hybrid ring and a striking diamond-set ring, highlighting the potential of Lucia and Saga.
Being chosen to launch these patterns is a milestone for JBlunt Designs. It underscores the trust Damasteel places in our creativity and craftsmanship, as well as our role in advancing Damascus steel jewelry. Each piece we create with these materials is a testament to the innovative spirit driving both our studio and Damasteel.
